Divergence tracks CNN as left, based on coverage monitored since March 2026. Across 2,452 scored events (4,364 articles), its coverage diverges from the cross-spectrum consensus at an average of 25 out of 100, roughly in line with the site-wide average of 27.
Its most common framing is neutral (65% of events, followed by critical at 22%). In 30% of the events it covers, CNN takes a framing no other outlet in the cluster shares, one of the higher contrarian rates we track. Coverage concentrates on politics and war.
Measured across shared events, CNN frames stories most like Defense One (69%), AP News (67%) and Globe and Mail (64%), and least like The Federalist (14% agreement).
