Toshifumi Suzuki, the founder of Seven-Eleven Japan and pioneer of Japan's convenience store industry, died of heart failure on May 18 at age 93. Seven & i Holdings announced his death on May 25. Suzuki partnered with Southland Corp to launch Seven-Eleven Japan in 1973 and later led the rescue of Southland from bankruptcy.
