Alaska Airlines and FedEx planes nearly collide while landing at Newark airport

An Alaska Airlines 737 from Portland and a FedEx 777 cargo plane from Memphis nearly collided while attempting to land on intersecting runways at Newark Liberty International Airport around 8:17 p.m. Tuesday. Air traffic control ordered the Alaska plane to go around when it was 150 feet in the air, and radar data shows the planes cleared each other by just 300 to 325 feet.
