State Department adds 12 countries to visa bond requirement list
The U.S. State Department announced it is adding 12 countries to the list of nations whose citizens must post bonds of up to $15,000 for visa applications, bringing the total to 50 countries. The requirement takes effect April 2 and applies to B-1 and B-2 visas for business visitors and tourists. The State Department says 97% of nearly 1,000 people who have posted bonds under the program have not overstayed their visas.
