South Florida residents file lawsuit challenging state land donation for Trump presidential library
Local residents and a nonprofit filed a lawsuit Wednesday seeking to block Florida from transferring 2.63 acres of prime downtown Miami waterfront property to the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation. The suit alleges the state land donation violates the Domestic Emoluments Clause, which prohibits states from giving financial benefits to a sitting president. Gov. Ron DeSantis moved last September to donate the land, valued at approximately $63 million, which previously belonged to Miami Dade College.
