FAA announces suspension of visual separation between planes and helicopters around major airports
The Federal Aviation Administration announced new safety measures suspending the use of visual separation between aircraft and helicopters in congested airspace around major airports. The announcement was made by FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. The measures come more than a year after a fatal collision between an American Airlines passenger jet and a military helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
