Trump administration suspends visa bond requirements for World Cup ticket holders from qualifying countries
The Trump administration announced Wednesday that foreign visitors from countries that qualified for the FIFA World Cup and purchased tickets will be exempted from paying visa bonds of up to $15,000 to enter the United States. The bond requirement, introduced last year for 50 countries deemed to have high visa overstay rates, previously applied to five World Cup-qualifying nations: Algeria, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Tunisia. Citizens from these countries who have purchased FIFA tickets and opted into FIFA's Priority Appointment Scheduling System are now exempt.
