Senate Republicans block Democratic war powers resolution on Iran conflict for second time

Senate Democrats brought another war powers resolution to a vote Wednesday seeking to halt President Trump's Iran war unless Congress formally authorizes it. The measure failed 49-50, but three Republican senators, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and Rand Paul, voted with Democrats to advance it, with Murkowski voting against the war for the first time. Democrats say the repeated votes are designed to build political pressure on Trump to either withdraw or seek congressional authorization.
