Philippine senator Ronald dela Rosa, wanted by the ICC, flees Senate after gunfire erupts inside the building
Senator Ronald dela Rosa, a former national police chief and key enforcer of ex-President Rodrigo Duterte's anti-drug campaign, evaded an ICC arrest warrant by taking refuge in the Philippine Senate, where fellow senators placed him under protective custody. Gunshots were fired inside the Senate building on Wednesday night, causing chaos, after which dela Rosa escaped the premises. The ICC had unsealed an arrest warrant for dela Rosa charging him with crimes against humanity, including the killing of at least 32 people between 2016 and 2018.
