Eileen Wang, 58, the mayor of Arcadia, California, agreed to plead guilty to one felony count of acting as an illegal agent of the People's Republic of China, carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison. Wang and her former fiancé Yaoning 'Mike' Sun operated a website called 'US News Center' that spread pro-Beijing propaganda between 2020 and 2022 at the direction of Chinese government officials. Wang resigned from her position on the Arcadia City Council upon the charges being announced Monday.
