Supreme Court preserves mifepristone mail access while Louisiana lawsuit continues
The Supreme Court ruled 7-2 on Thursday to stay a 5th Circuit Court of Appeals order that would have required in-person visits for mifepristone and halted mail delivery of the abortion pill. The order keeps FDA telehealth and mail-delivery rules in place while Louisiana's underlying lawsuit against the FDA plays out in lower courts. Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented, with Thomas calling the drug distribution a 'criminal enterprise.'

The split, in one line
Anti-abortion outlets frame this as a Biden scheme preserved and women and babies endangered, while mainstream and left-leaning outlets emphasize broad access preserved and legal certainty restored; the same 7-2 ruling is cast as either a defeat for life or a reprieve for patients.
