Secret Service shoots armed man near White House after he fired at officers
On Monday around 3:30 p.m., plainclothes Secret Service agents spotted a suspicious individual believed to be carrying a firearm near the White House complex. When uniformed officers approached, the suspect fled and opened fire; officers returned fire, wounding the suspect. A juvenile bystander was also shot and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, with investigators believing the suspect fired the shot that struck the child.
