Austria expels three Russian diplomats over espionage suspicions
Austria expelled three Russian diplomats on Monday after determining that antennas installed on the roofs of the Russian embassy in Vienna and a diplomatic compound were being used to intercept satellite internet data from international organizations based in Vienna. Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger stated the expulsions bring the total number of Russian diplomats sent home by Vienna to 14 since 2020. The Russian embassy called the decision unjustified and politically motivated, promising harsh retaliation.
