Jacksonville police officer uses prayer to talk suicidal man off bridge

On April 12, Jacksonville police officer Antonio Richardson spent approximately 40 minutes talking a man off the Dames Point Bridge, which sits nearly 200 feet above the St. Johns River. Richardson, an 18-year veteran and pastor, used appeals to faith and prayer alongside reassurance, eventually convincing the man to step back from the edge. Body camera footage of the incident was released publicly.

All three outlets emphasize Richardson's use of prayer and faith as central to the rescue, but the Daily Wire and NY Post focus on his dual role as officer and pastor, while Breitbart stresses the physical risk undertaken by the officer without harness safety protocols.
