Brian Cole Jr. claims Trump's Jan. 6 pardons apply to pipe bomb charges

Defense attorneys for Brian Cole Jr., charged with planting pipe bombs outside the Democratic and Republican national committee offices on Jan. 5, 2021, filed a motion arguing that Trump's sweeping Jan. 6 pardons apply to his case. Cole's lawyers contend the charges are 'inextricably tethered' to the Jan. 6 Capitol events and request dismissal of all charges. Cole was charged late last year with interstate transportation of explosives and attempted use of explosives after being identified as a suspect nearly five years after the incident.
