Narges Mohammadi, the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Iranian human rights activist, was transferred from prison to a hospital on Friday after experiencing two episodes of unconsciousness and a severe cardiac crisis. Prison doctors determined her condition could not be managed on-site despite prior medical recommendations for specialized treatment. She had been imprisoned since December 12 and was believed to have suffered a heart attack in late March.
