Indian national on student visa accused of attacking woman and biting her toddler in San Antonio park after Biden DHS declined to act on prior arrest.

Atharva Vyas, a 24-year-old Indian national, allegedly attacked Gabriella Perez and bit her three-year-old daughter's face at Espada Park in San Antonio on April 18, 2025. Vyas had been arrested for felony assault at the University of Texas in late 2023, but the Biden administration determined the crime was not egregious enough to revoke his student visa or take enforcement action. The Trump administration subsequently revoked his visa, and ICE has lodged a detainer with local authorities.
