Virginia courts hear Republican challenges to voter-approved redistricting amendment
Republicans including the RNC and Virginia GOP challenged a voter-approved redistricting ballot amendment, arguing the Democrat-controlled General Assembly violated constitutional procedural requirements in placing it on the ballot. A Richmond Circuit Court judge denied a Republican request to block the results. The Virginia Supreme Court then heard oral arguments on the constitutional question of whether early voting triggered a procedural violation.
