Federal judge moves to appoint former U.S. attorney Jessie Liu to investigate whether Trump administration officials misled the court in the East Potomac Golf Course case

U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes said Saturday she intends to appoint Jessie Liu, former U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, to investigate whether Justice and Interior Department officials misled the court about renovation plans for the East Potomac Golf Course. The administration plans to close the course on Nov. 15 for a 15-month renovation, and Reyes issued an injunction barring further tree removal. Both parties must respond in writing by Friday, when the next hearing is scheduled.
