Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said at a Wednesday press conference in Tallahassee that Tuesday's midterm losses were close to an extinction-level event for Republicans. He noted Democratic wins in Texas, including James Talarico's Senate victory and Gina Hinojosa's defeat of Gov. Greg Abbott, while pointing to Republican wins in Florida with Byron Donalds and Sen. Ashley Moody. DeSantis also said Democrats had not earned a mandate.
