Southwest U.S. flooding from two weeks of storms leaves one dead, forces evacuations and cleanup

Nearly two weeks of heavy rain driven by El Niño caused severe flooding across the Four Corners states and Nevada, with more than 20 trillion gallons of rain falling in the region. One person died in floodwaters and police suspect a second death was weather-related. Rivers crested lower than forecast in some areas, but evacuation orders and flood risk persisted as cleanup began in towns including Pagosa Springs and Durango, Colorado.
