The Justice Department sent criminal target letters to Democrats tied to an Alaska Senate ballot recruitment effort.

The Justice Department sent target letters to more than a dozen people aligned with the Democratic Party, including leadership of the Elias Law Group, in a probe of an effort to recruit a candidate named Daniel J. Sullivan to run against Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan in Alaska. The letters were sent on Election Day, and investigators have issued more than 100 grand jury subpoenas. Marc Elias called the investigation a sham and said his firm would not be intimidated.
