Spain's transport minister Óscar Puente resigns after two deadly high-speed train crashes within a year

Spanish Transport Minister Óscar Puente announced his resignation in Congress on Tuesday, six days after an October 28 high-speed train collision near Urda killed 69 people and injured more than 200. The crash occurred when a Renfe train struck a stationary Iryo train after a safety system failure. It followed a January collision in Andalusia that killed dozens more. Puente also withdrew from the November 29 general election.
