The Trump administration is planning to deport Afghan nationals in ICE custody to Pakistan, and from there onward to Afghanistan.

A U.S. official said the administration plans to deport nearly 200 Afghan nationals held in ICE custody by first flying them to Pakistan, which would then return them to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. A court declaration from an ICE officer confirmed a charter flight scheduled for November 3, 2026 would land in Pakistan before deportees were moved overland to Afghanistan. Sixty-six U.S. lawmakers sent a letter to the administration urging it to halt the deportations, warning the Afghans could face persecution by the Taliban.
