Australian appeals court rejects Erin Patterson's appeal and orders she never be released from prison for mushroom poisonings
A three-judge panel of the Victoria state Court of Appeal dismissed Erin Patterson's appeal of her murder convictions and upheld prosecutors' challenge to her 33-year non-parole period. The court ruled she should serve life without parole for poisoning four relatives with death cap mushrooms at a July 2023 lunch, killing three. Patterson, convicted in 2025, can still apply to Australia's High Court.
