A six-day humanitarian ceasefire in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Oleshky held through its first day as Ukraine, Russia and the U.S. prepared for talks in Abu Dhabi.

A localized truce in and around Oleshky, in Ukraine's Kherson region, began Tuesday and is set to last through Sunday to deliver food and medicine to about 2,000 remaining residents and evacuate those who wish to leave. Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets and Russian counterpart Yana Lantratova said there were no violations for 30 hours. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said U.S.-led technical talks in Abu Dhabi have not been scheduled, and he hopes for a date possibly between Nov. 6-10, after the Nov. 3 U.S. midterm election.
