Federal judge criticizes DOJ prosecutors over overnight superseding complaint against two former FBI officials charged with lying to Congress about Hunter Biden investigations

Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides, former leaders of the FBI Foreign Influence Task Force, were arrested Friday on charges of making false statements to Congress under 18 U.S.C. § 1001. Early Tuesday, prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney's office filed an unsigned, unsworn superseding complaint adding obstruction charges under 18 U.S.C. § 1505. At a preliminary hearing Tuesday, Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui refused to approve the filing as a superseding complaint and criticized prosecutors for bypassing judicial probable-cause review.

New charges filed ex-FBI officials related to Hunter Biden probe
The split, in one line
The right frames it as prosecutors botching a valid case against officials who shielded the Bidens; others frame it as a politically timed DOJ overreach filed unsigned and unsworn before midterms. The wires just note the hearing.
