Erika Kirk files motion seeking a 2027 trial date for Charlie Kirk's alleged killer, rejecting defense request for 2029

Erika Kirk's attorneys filed a motion for a speedy trial in Utah on Thursday, seeking a trial start at the earliest practicable date in 2027, preferably by the state's proposed Oct. 4, 2027 deadline. Defense lawyers for Tyler Robinson, who has pleaded not guilty to seven state charges including aggravated murder, are requesting a trial in the third quarter of 2029. A Utah judge will consider trial scheduling at a Friday afternoon hearing in Provo.

The split, in one line
Both outlets center Erika Kirk's pushback on the 2029 date, quoting her "grossly out of line" vs "absurd" language; the Examiner adds legal detail on the speedy-trial statute and the state's backup 2028 date, while the Post leads with the widow's outrage.
