Hundreds of Ethiopians cross into Kenya fleeing fighting in the border town of Moyale
Kenyan police reported that hundreds of Ethiopians, mostly women and children, crossed into Kenya through entry points in Moyale. The arrivals fled tensions and gunfire between leaders and forces of Ethiopia's Oromia and Somali regional states, which Ethiopian media said began as a dispute over raising the flag of the Somali Regional State. The Kenya Red Cross said it was setting up temporary shelter and distributing food, initially reaching 1,000 households.
