Hegseth staff damaged a WWII-era Eisenhower globe while moving it to his office

Staff for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth moved a 30-inch floor globe used by Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower without curators and dropped it, gashing the shell and detaching it from its mount during an attempted move on Feb. 3. The Army acknowledged the damage, and the Defense Department said the globe is being repaired. The move occurred on the last day of a partial government shutdown when history experts were furloughed.
