IUCN assessment finds 96% of shallow-water coral reefs at critical risk of collapse before 2075
An assessment coordinated by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, a UN advisory body, analyzed 127 coral reef regions and found that about 24% are currently critically endangered, rising to 96% when expected global heating impacts are included. The assessment assumed a middle-of-the-road emissions pathway producing roughly 2.7C of warming by 2100. Scientists said rapid cuts to fossil fuel use and local conservation action could still allow reefs to survive.

The split, in one line
All three lead with the 96% critically endangered figure and the 50-year collapse horizon. The Guardian adds the wake-up call, not hopeless framing and emissions-pathway detail; the others carry the number and little else.
