Democratic groups sue the Trump administration over alleged election interference and intimidation of state officials

A coalition of Democratic organizations, campaign committees, lawmakers and a voter filed suit in Washington, D.C. federal court against President Trump, the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security. The complaint asks a judge to block federal demands that states remove voters from rolls and to stop what plaintiffs call threats of prosecution against election officials. The DOJ defends its actions as lawful enforcement of federal election law, citing lists of alleged noncitizens sent to California and Nevada.

The split, in one line
The lawsuit is the shared spine, but outlets split on what it means: some lead with threats and intimidation of officials, others with shoddily compiled lists that crumbled, while the DOJ's willful blindness defense gets quoted back at them.
