Canadian publisher Boreal ends relationship with author Thelyson Orelien after finding AI traces in his novel's documents

Les Editions du Boreal said on Wednesday it ended its professional relationship with Haitian-Canadian author Thelyson Orelien after an external analysis found AI markers in the metadata of certain documents related to his novel "C'etait ca ou mourir." Boreal said it cannot determine how extensively AI was used and will not reprint the novel or publish future works by Orelien. Orelien has denied that a machine wrote any sentence of the book, while acknowledging he used AI tools for research.
