Two leaders of India's Cockroach Janta Party were released from Tihar jail after a week in custody for protesting at a banned site in Delhi.
Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, leaders of the Gen Z-led Cockroach Janta Party, were freed from Tihar jail after a Delhi magistrate ordered their release. They had been arrested for trespassing after crossing barricades at Jantar Mantar, a venue recently removed from the list of designated protest sites. The pair had been demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged manipulation of voter rolls, which the Election Commission and BJP reject.

The split, in one line
Both outlets report the release and the voter-roll grievance; one traces the movement's origin to a judge's 'cockroach' remark and its July clashes, the other leads with the jail term and the fraud allegation.
