A new migrant caravan of several hundred Central Americans departed southern Mexico and is traveling north toward the U.S. border ahead of the midterm elections.

A caravan of roughly 400 to 700 mostly Honduran, Guatemalan, and Salvadoran migrants left Tapachula, Chiapas, in southern Mexico on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, after departing Honduras on October 13. The Department of Homeland Security said there is "absolutely ZERO chance" the group will be allowed into the United States. Mexican authorities have broken up similar caravans in the past.
