A new CNN/SSRS poll shows Democrats holding a 10-point national lead over Republicans ahead of the 2026 midterms.

A CNN poll conducted by SSRS found Democrats leading Republicans 49% to 39% on the generic congressional ballot among registered voters, the largest such margin in CNN polling since just before the 2020 election. The poll also recorded President Donald Trump's approval rating at a record-low 32%. The survey comes less than two weeks before the 2026 midterm elections.

Democrats holding 10-point advantage ahead of midterms: Survey
The split, in one line
The poll itself is reported the same way everywhere, but the 10-point Democratic lead is a horse-race number in one account, a turnout warning about young voters in another, and a record-low Trump approval story in a third.
