Temasek and GIC deny a former Indonesian trade minister's claim that they instigated Indonesia's stock market rout via MSCI.

MSCI said last week it expects to remove Indonesia from its global indexes absent major governance improvements, sending local stocks tumbling by the most since the 1998 Asian Financial Crisis. Former Indonesian Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi alleged on social media that Temasek and GIC influenced MSCI to trigger panic and buy assets cheaply. Temasek's Fock Wai Hoong and a GIC spokesperson denied the allegations as baseless and untrue; MSCI is expected to decide on the downgrade by June 30, 2027.
