Eric Schmidt's early Anthropic stake could grow substantially if the AI company goes public at a high valuation.

Eric Schmidt invested tens of millions in Anthropic's 2021 Series A round, when the company was valued at $461 million, and holds roughly a 1% stake. Investors recently signaled a fair valuation for Anthropic of $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion, and an IPO is expected by the end of the year. Estimates of the gain to Schmidt's net worth range from about $10 billion to $20 billion.

The split, in one line
Both outlets agree on the stake and the IPO timeline, but they diverge on the payoff: one frames it as up to $10 billion, the other as could balloon to $20B. Breitbart adds leftist billionaires and AI-doomer politics; the Post sticks to the money.
