Beluga whale Cyprus dies at SeaWorld San Diego after relocation from Marineland Ontario
Cyprus, a nine-year-old male beluga whale relocated from Marineland in Niagara Falls, Ontario, died at SeaWorld San Diego after stopping eating and an ultrasound revealed his intestinal tract was not functioning normally. Cyprus was among 30 belugas and four dolphins transferred from Marineland, which closed after running out of money to care for the last captive whales and dolphins in Canada. His death adds to a series of fatalities among animals relocated from the facility over the summer.
