Putin proposes three-way summit with Trump and Xi Jinping to discuss Ukraine war resolution

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed a meeting with US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the APEC summit in Shenzhen on November 18-19, 2026, to discuss ending the Russia-Ukraine war. Putin raised the idea during an October 9 phone call with Trump, the same call in which the two leaders agreed the US would buy Russian diesel fuel. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed discussions were ongoing but said no firm agreement on the meeting or its agenda had been reached.
