Bank of Canada Governor Macklem signals higher inflation forecast due to elevated oil prices
Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem stated on Saturday at the IMF meeting in Bangkok that the central bank expects to revise its inflation forecast higher at its upcoming October 28 rate announcement. Brent crude is trading around US$110, well above the bank's July forecast of US$75 per barrel for Q3. Macklem said if oil prices stay around $100, inflation is expected to gradually drift up from its current 3 per cent level.
