Suspicious substances mailed to dozens of election and congressional offices nationwide

Law enforcement agencies including the FBI, US Postal Inspection Service, and Capitol Police are investigating suspicious letters mailed to at least 36 congressional offices and election offices in at least 10 states. Some letters contained white powder substances, prompting evacuations and hazmat responses, though no injuries have been reported and at least six substances tested non-hazardous. Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers were targeted, including Senators Ted Cruz, Susan Collins, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Raphael Warnock.
