Supreme Court agrees to hear asylum case of Nigerian man who cooked for terrorist group
The Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to hear the Trump administration's appeal seeking to deny asylum to Izuchukwu Ozurumba, a Nigerian national who cooked meals for a separatist group called the Unknown Gunmen. Ozurumba entered the United States in 2023 and was denied asylum under a law barring migrants who provided 'material support' to a terrorist organization. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had ruled 2-1 in Ozurumba's favor, ordering a re-hearing of his case.
