White House asks Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign as U.S. Ambassador to Greece amid misconduct allegations.
White House press secretary Katie Zacharia announced Tuesday that the Trump administration had asked U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign following a series of Wall Street Journal reports alleging misconduct. The allegations include that Guilfoyle solicited $100,000 from Trump donor Eric Deters to pay her American Express bill days before her Senate confirmation hearing, offering administration access in return. The State Department's Office of Inspector General is reviewing the allegations, and Guilfoyle denied wrongdoing in a statement, saying she would defend her name and reputation.
