Trump administration suspends Microsoft and other tech firms from PERM green card sponsorship program
The Trump administration suspended eight companies, including Microsoft, Adobe, and six Indian IT services firms, from the Permanent Labor Certification (PERM) program that allows employers to sponsor foreign workers for green cards. Vice President JD Vance and Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling accused the companies of using the program to displace American workers with lower-paid foreign labor. The Department of Labor will not accept new or process pending PERM applications from the named companies.

The split, in one line
Al Jazeera frames the move as part of a broader clamp down on immigration hitting thousands of foreign workers, while Axios leads with the split-screen irony of honoring immigrant CEOs the same day, and notes Microsoft's pushback on wage claims.
