Kremlin agrees with Rubio that the Ukraine conflict is in a stalemate.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on October 8-9, 2026, that Russia agrees with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's assessment that the Ukraine conflict is in a stalemate. Peskov, speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of ex-Soviet state leaders in Turkmenistan, said diplomats should find a path to peace but rejected temporary measures like limited ceasefires in favor of a comprehensive settlement. Peskov also said there was no immediate prospect for a three-way summit between Putin, Zelenskiy, and Trump.
