Jim Bakker, who built the PTL Club televangelism empire with his first wife Tammy Faye before resigning in 1987 amid a sex and financial scandal, died on October 5, 2026, at age 86. His second wife Lori Bakker announced the death on social media; no cause of death was disclosed. Bakker was convicted of fraud in 1989 and served approximately five years in prison before relaunching a television ministry in 2003.
