Senate passes bipartisan deal to partially fund Department of Homeland Security without ICE and Border Patrol funding

The Senate unanimously approved a bipartisan funding deal early Friday morning to reopen parts of the Department of Homeland Security, including TSA, FEMA, and Coast Guard, but excluding funding for ICE and Border Patrol operations. The legislation now moves to the House for consideration during a 42-day government shutdown standoff. The deal does not include restrictions on immigration enforcement that Democrats had sought.
