John Kennedy (R-LA) said on NBC's Meet the Press on October 4, 2026 that he is considering running for president in 2028 if he feels he can no longer be effective in the Senate and if weak candidates enter the GOP field. His immediate plan is to run for reelection to the Senate. He declined to comment on potentially running against Vice President JD Vance.
