U.S. dispatches third carrier strike group to Middle East as Trump weighs post-midterm Iran strikes

The U.S. military is sending roughly 9,000-10,000 troops aboard a group of ships including the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group to the Middle East, potentially bringing three carriers to the region by end of October 2026. President Trump said it is "possible" the U.S. could resume strikes against Iran after the November 3 midterm elections and rejected Iran's latest ceasefire proposal. Trump also suggested a possible link between Iran and the FlyDubai co-pilot who attacked his captain on an Israel-bound flight.
